The world of Spira hinges on the idea of death. Sin was created by a summoner, Yu Yevon to stop the use of Machina. This is why Sin attacks places with high technological development and why Al-Bhed homes and settlements are often attacked. Keeping with the idea of Summoners creating Sin, the war fought more than a thousand years ago portrayed in Final Fantasy X-2 features a summoner and her guardian. The guardian goes out of his way to get to Bevelle to use machina to save his summoner. I believe that the original sin was created to stop this war and the death of summoners. This would fit with the idea that sin targets technological cities or cities with great technological advancement. The first summoner to defeat sin was Yunalesca, according to Bevelle records and the beliefs of the summoners. My focus is not the war or the conspiracies that could coincide with them. It is the summons, the fayth, and the elements of life and the abounding death that make up the world of Spira.

Lulu states that there are four elements within the world, each with a natural weakness. The elements are fire, ice, lightning, and water. Fire and Ice are weak to each other just as Lightning (Thunder) and Water are weak to each other. Each element has a defining summon, except for water. This has always been frustrating for me and is the main reason for the site. It is my hope to explore the nature of these elements in conjunction with their placement in temples throughout Spira.

One more important concept that we must cover before visiting the aeons are the Fayth. The Fayth are the spirits of people that become Aeons. These are people that understand the cycle of life and death of Spira, yet still want to assist summoners and bring peace. They are, for all purposes, guardian angels sent to assist the savior from sin. Each fayth corresponds to a specific aeon and element. These elements represent each of the four elements of magic. In addition, I would say that they represent the general idea of being trapped in the cycle of death, because they are bound and hidden away.

In addition, I feel it's really important to mention that the four basic elements are both helpful and harmful. The common belief that water is the element that gives life is also capable of destroying. This is also the only element missing within the world of Spira as an aeon. Fire can heat, warm, and burn. Ice can refresh, cool, and freeze. Lightning powers, lights, and shocks. Each element has a positive and negative side, this is a natural balance. For this reason, I feel that Sin's constant destruction is the balance to the elemental aeon's support.

The Fayth are interesting to me, mostly because they are people that gave their lives to aid summoners in their quest to stop Sin. This confuses me a great deal because I am under the impression that they fully understood the cycle of Sin. It's not the self-sacrifice part that gets me. I understand that, what I don't understand is how they determined there were no other options. Actually, I understand that too, the whole religious dogma, tribal law thing can be a killer. I feel a lot like Tidus thrown into the world to experience it and I just sit there gawking (maybe I'm from Zanarkand too). This is what boggles my mind most about the whole thing. If there were even the slightest chance for something else, wouldn't you try it? My ideas, however, come from being so disconnected and out of the natural elements of the world that I have to question it to make sense of it. When it's all you know, how do you know it's wrong?
