Golmore Jungle

While trying to get to Holy Mt. Bur-Omisace, the party encounters a ward htat prevents them from enetering the Paramina Rift. Fran immediately turns around and starts to lead the party elsewhere. She knows she must get assistance. Balthier asks her if she is certain. She tells him that the visit is just as much for her as it is for him. She knows that the nethicite bothers him. She knows that Ashe needs to get to Bur-Omisace. As a silent observer, Fran has seen the motivations of her peers. She knows that if she goes home she will be met with disdain and rebukes. However, she knows that without returning home to Eruyt that the party will get nowehere.

Fran waits at the village entrance while the others go to find Mrjn. Fran insists that Mrjn will be able and willing to assist them. However, the party meets Jote instead. She refuses to give information, but Vaan keeps stating that it's fine since they'll find Mrjn wihtout her assistance. Fran finally makes an appearence and Jote scolds her on not being able to hear the Green Word anymore. She immediately blames the humes and their harsh speech. But Fran makes no direct comment about it.

I get the feeling that Jote was so frustrated by the disappearence of Mrjn that she took it out on the only person she could - her sister. In part, I feel this is because Fran's leaving is part of what inspired Mrjn to want to leave. Jote, faced with losing both of her sisters, couldn't help but feel frustrated and trapped. Ultimately, she does give clues on where to find Mrjn.

Since Fran waits at the village entrance, I understand the she knows her presence will be burdensome. She knows that she will cause issue. Instead, she merely wants to get things handled quickly. I think that this is ultimately why she chooses to confront Jote again. She knows that she has too. I believe she wanted to avoid further heartache with Jote but when she thought Mrjn was in trouble put aside her feelings. If Mrjn was in trouble and had left, Jote could do nothing to help her. This left only one option for Fran. If Mrjn was in trouble or had left, Fran coudl convince her to return so that Mrjn would not have to face the same troubles and isolations she had.
