Ifrit the Light of Kilika

The fire summon from Kilika Island. At first I could not consider why an island would have a fire spirit. On second hand, unlike Besaid, Kilika seems to lack natural fresh water supply. Due to it being an island they have abundance of sea water, this can be purified for drinking though boiling. For me this becomes highly symbolic in fire purifying water to maintain life.

In mythology Ifrit is Jinn that is known for its cunning and strength. This speaks to me on two levels. First, strength. It seems that Ifrit is always punching or clawing his way through things, probably a testament to his strength. Second, cunning, I find it brilliant that one can use heat to expel salt from water to make it drinkable. Maybe it's just my new fascination with processes, but I like to think that the Fayth provides more than just a hymn and protection. The Fayth is a person that walks with summoners, talks with summoners, and I feel that part of their job as guiding spirits is to make life easier for Spira too.
